JET FIRE LEADS TO EVAC­U­A­TION AT AIR­PORT; NO IN­JURIES

Fire broke out in an engine on a re­gional jet as it ar­rived Sun­day af­ter­noon at Den­ver In­ter­na­tional Air­port, and pas­sen­gers and crew mem­bers had to be evac­u­ated as the plane sat on a taxi­way.

SkyWest spokes­woman Marissa Snow says the 59 pas­sen­gers on the United Ex­press plane op­er­ated by SkyWest were safely evac­u­ated. No one was injured.

SkyWest Flight 5869 ar­rived at DIA from Aspen at 2:15 p.m., said Heath Mont­gomery, air­port spokesman.

The peo­ple aboard the plane were evac­u­ated and taken by bus to the ter­mi­nal. The Den­ver Fire Depart­ment ex­tin­guished the blaze, Mont­gomery said.

Mont­gomery said the fire is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated.
