Officer out of hospital
An Edgewater police officer who suffered a heart attack last month while arresting a combative DUI suspect has been released from a hospital.
Cpl. Michael Nesbitt is recovering at home after his release from Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, according to Edgewater police.
The incident happened at about 2 a.m. June 23 when officers attempted to stop the driver of a motorized scooter for suspected DUI. The driver of the scooter, identified as Connor Michael Dougherty, 26, wrecked the vehicle in the parking lot of Jefferson High School, 2305 Pierce St., police said.
Donations to aid Nesbitt can be made to the “Corporal Michael Nesbitt Family Relief Fund” at any US Bank branch.
