Types of water
Recycled water: This is water that has moved through the city’s sewage treatment system. It’s cleaned to the drinking-water standard of the 1980s but is considered nonpotable under current regulations.
Graywater: This is water from such uses as showers and washing machines that has not moved through the sewer system. Colorado rules allow its use in some circumstances. Produced water: This is water that is churned up from oil and gas production activities that contains chemicals.
