Pres­i­dent Donald Trump had an­other, pre­vi­ously undis­closed con­ver­sa­tion with Rus­sian Pres­i­dent Vladimir Putin at a sum­mit it Ger­many.

White House spokesman Sean Spicer and Na­tional Se­cu­rity Coun­cil spokesman Michael An­ton con­firmed that Trump and Putin spoke pri­vately at a din­ner for world lead­ers and their spouses at the Group of 20 sum­mit in Ham­burg, Ger­many. An­ton would not spec­ify the du­ra­tion of the meet­ing. But he said the discussion was ca­sual and should not be char­ac­ter­ized as a meet­ing or even a less for­mal, but of­fi­cial, “pull-aside.”

Trump to nom­i­nate Hunts­man as am­bas­sador to Russia.

Pres­i­dent Donald Trump on Tues­day an­nounced his in­ten­tion to nom­i­nate for­mer Utah Gov. Jon Hunts­man to be U.S. am­bas­sador to Russia.

If con­firmed, the for­mer 2012 GOP pres­i­den­tial can­di­date would take over a high-pro­file post amid on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions into Rus­sian med­dling in the 2016 elec­tion and po­ten­tial con­tacts be­tween Rus­sian of­fi­cials and the Trump cam­paign.

Hunts­man has twice served as an am­bas­sador. He was the na­tion’s top di­plo­mat to Sin­ga­pore un­der Pres­i­dent Ge­orge H.W. Bush and served in that role in China un­der Pres­i­dent Barack Obama be­fore re­turn­ing to the U.S. to run for pres­i­dent.

Saudi woman in miniskirt video ar­rested af­ter out­cry.

A Saudi woman has been ar­rested for de­fy­ing the king­dom’s strict dress code by walk­ing around in a miniskirt and crop top in a video that sparked pub­lic out­rage.

The woman, whose name was not given, was de­tained by po­lice in the cap­i­tal, Riyadh, for wear­ing “im­mod­est clothes” that con­tra­dicted the coun­try’s conservative Is­lamic dress code, state me­dia re­ported Tues­day.

The video sparked a Twit­ter hash­tag that called for her ar­rest, with many say­ing she fla­grantly dis­obeyed Saudi rules, which re­quire all women liv­ing in the king­dom, in­clud­ing for­eign­ers, to wear long, loose robes known as abayas in pub­lic.

First half of 2017 ranks sec­ond-hottest glob­ally, be­hind 2016.

The first half of 2017 was the sec­ond-warmest on record for Earth, be­hind only last year.

The Na­tional Oceanic and At­mo­spheric Ad­min­is­tra­tion an­nounced Tues­day Earth’s av­er­age tem­per­a­ture from Jan­uary to June was 57.9 de­grees. That’s 1.6 de­grees warmer than the 20th cen­tury av­er­age. NOAA cli­mate sci­en­tist Ahira Sanchez-Lugo says it is re­mark­able that 2017, without an El Niño so far, beat all but the su­per El Niño year of 2016. Record warmth was mea­sured in much of Mex­ico, western Europe, east­ern Russia, east­ern Africa and east­ern China.

Har­vey Atkin, who played Morty in “Meat­balls,” dies at 74.

Har­vey Atkin, the Cana­dian ac­tor who played the camp di­rec­tor Morty in “Meat­balls,” has died af­ter a bat­tle with can­cer. He was 74. Atkin ap­peared in more than 90 episodes of “Cag­ney & Lacey” as Sgt. Ron­ald Cole­man, and he ap­peared fre­quently as Judge Alan Ri­de­nour on “Law & Or­der.”
