Collusion or not, Kushner and Trump team’s behavior despicable
I strongly disagree with The Denver Post’s editorial promoting a music festival for five years on the Overland Park Golf Course just to add music venue fame to the city and dollars to city coffers. A golf course is not made to handle the foot traffic of 80,000 people stomping on the turf for three days and set-up vehicles for five weeks every year for five years.
Mitigation money is not an acceptable alternative. Many neighborhood seniors regularly play golf at Overland. It appears that now they will be offered information on how to take a bus elsewhere and receive a little discount. There is money for the city, but no bonus for the injured golf course or displaced golfers — only some mitigation
Seriously, Denver Post? You really think allowing 80,000 people to trample the grasses on Overland Park Golf Course is a good idea? For $200,000, the people of Ruby Hill get to have their lives upended for five weeks every September for five years?
The Overland golf course is a special place with waterfowl habitat and sensitive natural grass areas. How short is your memory? The 4/20 festival did quite a number on Civic Center, remember? “Trump son-in-law: No Russia collusion,” July 25 news story.
President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner said before testifying behind closed doors in the Senate that he did not collude with the Russians and does not know anyone in the Trump campaign who did. That misses the point.
What is clear from the email exchange from Donald Trump Jr. is that the Trump surrogates attended a meeting with a Russian lawyer with the expectation of receiving negative informa- tion about Hillary Clinton to help Trump win the election. The failure of the Trump surrogates to get what they wanted does not make this a “nothing burger,” as many of the Trump team have claimed.
The intent to collude is plain for all to see. The Trump representatives sought out Russian help to win the election. Just because the Trump team didn’t get the secret sauce they were looking for does not make this a “nothing burger.” Collusion or not, it’s despicable.
