CITY PARTY: Carnation Festival
FRIDAY-SUNDAY. The annual carnation festival in Wheat Ridge could draw more than 30,000 people with live music, circus performances, a community parade, an antique car show, a chili cook-off and carnations galore. The festival was founded in 1969 to honor “the world’s carnation capital.” Whether you come for the 48th annual carnation parade, themed “Rock ’n’ Carnations,” or for the Fine Art Show and sale, the festival has fun for the whole family. On Friday and Saturdays at 9:15 p.m., the festival will cap off an evening of circus acts and concerts with firework displays. Free. 4355 Field St., Wheat Ridge.
