CITY PARTY: Car­na­tion Fes­ti­val

FRIDAY-SUN­DAY. The an­nual car­na­tion fes­ti­val in Wheat Ridge could draw more than 30,000 peo­ple with live mu­sic, cir­cus per­for­mances, a com­mu­nity pa­rade, an an­tique car show, a chili cook-off and car­na­tions ga­lore. The fes­ti­val was founded in 1969 to honor “the world’s car­na­tion cap­i­tal.” Whether you come for the 48th an­nual car­na­tion pa­rade, themed “Rock ’n’ Car­na­tions,” or for the Fine Art Show and sale, the fes­ti­val has fun for the whole fam­ily. On Friday and Satur­days at 9:15 p.m., the fes­ti­val will cap off an evening of cir­cus acts and con­certs with fire­work dis­plays. Free. 4355 Field St., Wheat Ridge.
