48-YEAR SEN­TENCE IN HOUSE PARTY DEATH

A man con­victed of fa­tally shoot­ing an­other man at a house party in Den­ver last au­tumn was sen­tenced Fri­day to 48 years in pri­son.

Sal­vador Var­gas, 33, was con­victed in June, af­ter a four-day trial, of sec­ond-de­gree mur­der, ac­cord­ing to the Den­ver District At­tor­ney’s Of­fice.

In the early morn­ing hours of Nov. 27, 2016, Var­gas fa­tally shot 54-yearold Rufino Perez at a house party in the 5500 block of Car­son Street.

Var­gas had been shot, and slightly wounded at the same party in an ini­tial con­fronta­tion, the DA’S of­fice said in a news re­lease. Var­gas later took a gun from his wife’s purse and shot Perez sev­eral times in re­tal­i­a­tion.

Of­fi­cer in­jured stop­ping mo­tor­cy­clists. A Den­ver po­lice of­fi­cer was in­jured Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon af­ter try­ing to stop four mo­tor­cy­clists who rode onto a closed bi­cy­cle race route for the Colorado Clas­sic at Speer Boule­vard and Zuni Street, ac­cord­ing to the Den­ver Po­lice De­part­ment.

One motorcyclist was in­jured and trans­ported to a hos­pi­tal when his mo­tor­cy­cle col­lided with the of­fi­cer, who was on foot. The of­fi­cer was trans­ported to the hos­pi­tal on a non­emer­gency sta­tus.

A sec­ond motorcyclist was taken into cus­tody at 32nd Av­enue and Fed­eral Boule­vard. The in­ci­dent re­mains un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Boul­der po­lice in­ves­ti­gate fa­tal shoot­ing. BOUL­DER» Boul­der po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a fa­tal shoot­ing at the San Juan Del Cen­tro apart­ments that hap­pened shortly be­fore 2 a.m. on Sat­ur­day.

The shoot­ing oc­curred in­side a ve­hi­cle in a park­ing lot at the com­plex, po­lice said in a news re­lease, and the shoot­ing vic­tim, a man in his 20s, was taken to Boul­der Com­mu­nity Health’s Foothill’s Hos­pi­tal where he died from his in­juries.

Po­lice and Boul­der fire­fight­ers were seen tak­ing down crime scene tape in a park­ing lot near the apart­ment com­plex’s leas­ing of­fice at about 10:30 a.m. The leas­ing of­fice also serves as a Boul­der po­lice sub­sta­tion.

Junc­tion man has been ar­rested on ac­cu­sa­tions that he sex­u­ally abused chil­dren who were left in his care, Den­ver7 re­ported.

Ac­cord­ing to an ar­rest af­fi­davit, Collin Jensen, 41, abused at least three dif­fer­ent chil­dren be­tween May 2014 and July 2017.

Jensen also used a cell phone to take pho­tos and videos, the af­fi­davit states.
