RTD’s request for final testing of the G-Line commuter rail gets federal OK
The Federal Railroad Administration on Wednesday approved RTD’s request for final testing of the G-Line.
RTD, however, still needs approval from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to complete testing on crossings along the 11-mile commuter line that runs between Denver’s Union Station and Wheat Ridge.
The FRA approval of RTD’s request was announced Thursday in a letter from RTD CEO David A. Genova to board members.
On Sept. 27, the PUC denied RTD’s motions to complete testing on the G-Line grade crossings. “We are still awaiting the written decision from the Commission that will determine the next steps in the PUC process,” the letter said.
