PLANE DETOURED OVER LAPTOP

A Frontier Airlines flight bound for Denver made an unscheduled stop in Oklahoma City on Saturday after an unattended laptop was found in a bathroom on board.

Flight 481 from New Orleans touched down at Will Rogers World Airport a little after 9:30 p.m. Saturday after a flight attendant found the computer following a bout of turbulence that resulted in the “fasten seat belt” signs being turned on, Oklahoma City police said. The crew used the plane’s speaker system to try to locate the laptop’s owner, but none of the 149 passengers claimed it.

“The decision to land in Oklahoma City was made out of an abundance of caution,” Frontier spokesman Richard Oliver said in an email.

Once on the ground, a bomb squad and the FBI inspected the device, eventually determining it was just a laptop, police say.

The FBI eventually found the computer’s owner among the passengers. She was intoxicated. The computer was returned to the woman, but she and her daughter stayed behind in Oklahoma City, Hayden Barnes, an Oklahoma City police officer said.

The remaining passengers and crew reboarded the plane, and it arrived in Denver after more than a fourhour delay.
