Senior reserve forward Elijah Burns came off the bench to score a careerhigh 15 points to lead four players in double figures as Notre Dame won its second game in three nights with an 89-62 victory over visiting Chicago State. Nate Laszewski added 12 points, D.J. Harvey had 11 and T.J. Gibbs had 10 for coach Mike Brey’s youthful Irish, who blew an 18-point firsthalf lead but pulled away in the second half against the Cougars.
Dan Hurley had a successful coaching debut at UConn Thursday as his Huskies opened their season with an 80-70 win over Morehead State. Josh Carlton scored 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Huskies. Lamontray Harris had 16 points for Morehead State, which falls to 1-1 on the season.

Jalen Pickett scored 19 points and Kevin Degnan added 15 as Siena held off George Washington to give coach Jamion Christian his first win, a 69-61 victory on Thursday night.
Picket nailed 4 of 9 from long range and added 5 of 6 from the free throw line while dishing out six assists.

Wieskamp scored 15 points and Iowa overcame a lackluster start to beat UMKC 77-63 in a regional game of the 2K Empire Classic.
The Hawkeyes got 12 points from Jordan Bohannon, as well as 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists from Tyler Cook.
