Enoch had 15 points in­clud­ing sev­eral key free throws down the stretch, Dar­ius Perry added 14 points and Louisville held off Ni­cholls State 85-72 to win Chris Mack’s de­but as Cardinals coach. The Cardinals had to work to put away the stub­born Colonels, whose 3-point shoot­ing got them within 68-66 with 4:16 re­main­ing. V.J. King made a free throw, Perry added a layup and Enoch made two more from the line to make it 73-66.

Se­nior re­serve for­ward Eli­jah Burns came off the bench to score a ca­reer­high 15 points to lead four play­ers in dou­ble fig­ures as Notre Dame won its sec­ond game in three nights with an 89-62 vic­tory over vis­it­ing Chicago State. Nate Laszewski added 12 points, D.J. Har­vey had 11 and T.J. Gibbs had 10 for coach Mike Brey’s youth­ful Ir­ish, who blew an 18-point firsthalf lead but pulled away in the sec­ond half against the Cougars.

Dan Hur­ley had a suc­cess­ful coach­ing de­but at UConn Thurs­day as his Huskies opened their sea­son with an 80-70 win over Morehead State. Josh Carl­ton scored 17 points and pulled down eight re­bounds for the Huskies. La­mon­tray Har­ris had 16 points for Morehead State, which falls to 1-1 on the sea­son.

Siena 69, Ge­orge Wash­ing­ton 61.

Jalen Pick­ett scored 19 points and Kevin Deg­nan added 15 as Siena held off Ge­orge Wash­ing­ton to give coach Jamion Chris­tian his first win, a 69-61 vic­tory on Thurs­day night.

Picket nailed 4 of 9 from long range and added 5 of 6 from the free throw line while dish­ing out six as­sists.

Iowa 77, UMKC 63.

Wieskamp scored 15 points and Iowa over­came a lack­lus­ter start to beat UMKC 77-63 in a re­gional game of the 2K Em­pire Clas­sic.

The Hawkeyes got 12 points from Jor­dan Bo­han­non, as well as 12 points, eight re­bounds and five as­sists from Tyler Cook.
