YOUNG CARRYING ON A FAMILY TRADITION

The Detroit News - - Metro -

Controversy has surrounded Coleman Young II’s name for years. His mother, Annivory Calvert, said his name was always Coleman Young II – and he was baptized with the name two months after his birth in 1982. In 1985, the mother gave him the alias “Joel Loving” to protect him from anyone who would want to harm him. Calvert said in 1995 a new birth certificate was issued for Coleman Young II.
