Applauded and controversial journalist Jemele Hill has confirmed that she’s leaving the ESPN network. “Over the last several weeks, there have been a lot of rumors about my job status,” she tweeted Friday. “Today is my last day at ESPN.” The Detroit native made national headlines last year when she called President Donald Trump a “white supremacist” on social media. The Michigan State grad, who was named Journalist of the Year at this year’s National Association of Black Journalists convention, worked on air at ESPN and later wrote for the network’s news and pop culture website the Undefeated. In a statement posted to Twitter Hill said she worked at ESPN since 2006 and but that “the time has come for me to begin a new chapter in my life.”

Julie Chen: ‘I’m Julie Chen Moonves’
Television anchor Julie Chen made a statement Thursday night by signing on “Big Brother” using her full name. “I’m Julie Chen Moonves, good night,” she said with a smile. The CBS anchor doesn’t usually — or ever? — use her surname name “Moonves,” so some are seeing this as a signal that she’s standing by her husband, Les Moonves, who was recently removed as CEO from the network after multiple sexual abuse charges. They’ve been married since 2004. Chen also teased the return of “Big Brother” by posting a photo of the cue cards that happened to show her wedding ring. TMZ interpreted this as her signal that her marriage is strong.
Julie Chen seems to be standing by her husband, Les Moonves, who is now an ex-CBS executive.
