Maryland Public TV to host McDonoughRuppersberger debate

Ruppersberger, a centrist Democrat, leans liberal but has the most moderate voting record in the Maryland delegation, voting with President Barack Obama 72 percent of the time. He has one of the more moderate voting records across Congress, his campaign has said.
He has endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, as well as U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-8) who is running against Del. Kathy Szeliga (R-7) for Maryland’s open senate seat, which is being vacated by longtime Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D) at the end of her current term.
Ruppersberger has expressed frustration about negative rhetoric in this race.
“My opponent — I’ve known him for a long time,” Ruppersberger said. “His style’s not my style. People want to hear about the issues.” Follow me on Twitter
