Jerry’s Chil­dren’s Fund seeks Christ­mas con­tri­bu­tions

Goods and mon­e­tary do­na­tions are now be­ing col­lected for Jerry’s Chil­dren’s Fund for this year’s Christ­mas drive. For the past 10 years, the Chil­dren’s Fund has de­liv­ered Christ­mas con­tri­bu­tions to fam­i­lies in need across the area.

Last year, Jerry’s Chil­dren’s Fund pro­vided gifts for 152 chil­dren, each re­ceiv­ing 10 to 20 gifts each.

Jerry Bathory, founder of Jerry’s Chil­dren’s Fund, works with school guid­ance coun­selors and so­cial work­ers to de­ter­mine which chil­dren are in need. Bathory must re­ceive all do­na­tions by the first week of De­cem­ber in or­der to de­liver to the schools.

The fol­low­ing items that are needed for chil­dren age 3 to mid-teens: col­or­ing books, crayons, paint books, col­ored pen­cils, sketch pads, arts and crafts ma­te­rial, youth books, toy wrestlers and sol­diers (in­clud­ing GI Joe), Spi­der­man, Su­per­man, lo­tions, cos­met­ics, nail pol­ish, cos­metic jew­elry, board games, dolls (in­clud­ing Bar­bie, Mon­ster High, baby dolls and Sponge Bob Square Pants), bat­ter­ies, hair ac­ces­sories, mu­si­cal items, foot­balls, base­balls, G-rated DVDs, learn­ing items, new stuffed an­i­mals, puz­zles, Le­gos, Dora, Star Wars, stuffed an­i­mals, Ravens’ and Ori­oles’ items and ac­tion fig­ures.

New win­ter hats and gloves and gift cards for Wal­mart and Five Be­low are also needed.
