To the editor,

The Dundalk Patapsco Neck Historical Society would again like to thank you for sponsoring our annual Defender’s Day Commemoration and Battle of 1812 re-enactment at Fort Howard Park on September 1, 2019, and in years past. You were a large part of that special event, enriching our community wile sharing our important piece of history with neighbors, friends and family. Your support for this event would have never happened. Thank you.

I am writing to you today to tell you that, unfortunately, Defenders’ Day is canceled for this year. We did not feel it was right to ask out struggling small businesses to sponsor our event when they are working so hard to overcome the hardships of the coronavirus that have impacted our community. Though we feel strongly about teaching, preserving and remembering our important piece of American history, we must look at our place in our community and support our neighbors.
