Baltimore County Public Schools is preparing for the 2020-2021 school year by asking students, parents/caregivers, staff, and community members to provide feedback on transporta­tion; virtual and/ or in-person learning; returning to buildings; and expected challenges. A design team made up of BCPS leaders from across the organizati­on will use the survey results, advisory group feedback, available research, health guide- lines, and promising practices from across the state and nation to recommend a plan to Superinten­dent Dr. Darryl L. Williams. The version of the BCPS Reopening Survey in English and Spanish is available through Tuesday, June 30, at 11:59 p.m. The version of the BCPS Reopening Survey in Arabic, Chinese, and Urdu is available through Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. Speakers of additional languages may call 443-809-6814 for assistance taking the survey. Cove Road Bridge in southeaste­rn Baltimore County will be rehabilita­ted The Maryland Department of Transporta­tion State Highway Administra­tion (MDOT SHA) is rehabilita­ting the Cove Road bridge over MD 695 (Baltimore Beltway/ Patapsco Freeway) in southeaste­rn Baltimore County. The $4-million project is expected to be complete by fall 2021. MDOT SHA contractor Concrete General Inc. of Gaithersbu­rg, will perform the work, which includes removal and replacemen­t of the bridge deck (riding surface); cleaning and painting of structural steel; and repairing sections of steel beams. There will be daytime single lane closures in both directions Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and overnight lane closures Sunday – Thursday between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day on both the Baltimore Beltway and Cove Road. MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in constructi­on zones.
