Citing health concerns, HLLG cancels this year’s luncheon
Due to concerns for your safety and that of participants, the Board of the Henrietta Lacks Legacy Group (HLLG) has overwhelmingly voted to cancel the Henrietta Lacks Legacy Group’s Annual Luncheon scheduled for October 2, 2020. The Board did not make this decision lightly. Conflicting reports on the COVID-19 pandemic and its possible resurgence forced us to err on the side of caution. We continue to hold this year’s award winners in high esteem for their tireless service:
Edyth Brooks, Woman of the Year Award Minister Donald Jones, Man of the Year Award Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Service Award Bay Vanguard, Business of the Year Award
We have rescheduled this year’s luncheon to October 1, 2021. Additionally, we continue to work on raising funds for the wax figure of Mrs. Lacks and on petitioning for a commemorative postage stamp. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or wish to help.
Finally, on August 1, 2020 from 3-6 p.m., The Lacks Family invites you to a free virtual Symposium to launch the historic yearlong #HELA100 Centennial CELLebration honoring The Incontestable Impact of Henrietta Lacks on the occasion of her 100th birthday!
