BCPS introduces RISE campaign, hosts school supply drive
As remote learning has become the new focus for the start of the school year, school supplies are still necessary to ensure a successful education.
When school supplies are not available, the outcome for the task can be delayed or not achieved at all. That’s why The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, Inc. is partnering with hundreds of community members to deliver the tools our students need to begin a successful new school year in September 2020.
The initiative began at the start of July and will continue on throughout the 2020-2021 school year. As the campaign progresses, education champions will be collecting supplies, making monetary donations, and volunteering their time and talent to support this initiative.
The campaign is called: RISE (Relief in Securing Education): Tools for Schools. Everyone from retirees to elected officials and business partners have a stake in ensuring a successful start to the new school year for our students and teachers.
Last year, the school supply drive resulted in a distribution of items to more than 2,100 educators totaling more than $165,000 in resources at The Exchangeree in Windsor Mill, which is a collaborative educators resource center created in partnership with Merritt Companies and American Design Associates.
This year, the foundation hopes to provide even more support to our students, educators and classrooms. To help in that effort, a second Exchangeree location is opening in partnership with Federal Realty, The AVENUE at White Marsh, American Design Associates, and Douron Furniture Solutions, which will extend our reach with locations convenient to the BCPS community.
It’s easy to participate. When you choose to collect school supplies or volunteer, you can do so by signing up online at www.educationfoundationbcps.org/tools-for-schools-online-registration.
You can also schedule to drop off school supplies by viewing our drop-off dates and registering. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can also do that online.
All the information, resources and tools you need can be found at www.educationfoundationbcps. org/exchangeree.
