George H. Dooley
GRANTSVILLE — George Hadley Dooley, 100, formerly of Dundalk, MD, died peacefully Wednesday, August 12, 2020, in Goodwill Retirement Community, Grantsville, MD.
He was the husband of Eugenia “Trippy” (Triplett) Dooley, who predeceased him in 2006. George would have celebrated his 101st birthday this October.
Born in Hudson, NH, George was the son of the late George Newman Dooley and Ella W. (Hadley) Dooley. He graduated from Hudson High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1953, and a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Seabee in the Pacific theater of operations.
He was a certified mechanical engineer for Bethlehem Steel, shipbuilding division from 1953 to 1984, having previously worked in the Portsmouth, NH Naval Shipyard.
He was formerly a member of Dundalk United Methodist Church and more recently attended Springs Mennonite Church, Springs, PA.
George is survived by his son, George T. of Essex, MD; daughters: Martha M. Dooley [Kathleen Murray] of New Market, VA, and Carolyn D. Tice [Enos] of Salisbur y, PA; grandchildren: Naomi Tice and Isaac Tice. He was also predeceased by his siblings: Arthur, Ella, Walter and Philip. He will be forever remembered by his family, including numerous nieces and nephews.
Continuing his life-long spirit of generosity, George donated his body to science.
