GRANTSVILL­E — Ge­orge Hadley Doo­ley, 100, for­merly of Dun­dalk, MD, died peace­fully Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 12, 2020, in Good­will Re­tire­ment Com­mu­nity, Grantsvill­e, MD.

He was the hus­band of Eu­ge­nia “Trippy” (Triplett) Doo­ley, who pre­de­ceased him in 2006. Ge­orge would have cel­e­brated his 101st birth­day this Oc­to­ber.

Born in Hud­son, NH, Ge­orge was the son of the late Ge­orge New­man Doo­ley and Ella W. (Hadley) Doo­ley. He grad­u­ated from Hud­son High School and earned a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence in Engi­neer­ing from the Univer­sity of New Hamp­shire in 1953, and a mem­ber of Tau Beta Pi, the engi­neer­ing honor so­ci­ety. He was a Navy vet­eran of World War II, serv­ing as a Se­abee in the Pa­cific theater of op­er­a­tions.

He was a cer­ti­fied me­chan­i­cal en­gi­neer for Beth­le­hem Steel, ship­build­ing di­vi­sion from 1953 to 1984, hav­ing pre­vi­ously worked in the Portsmouth, NH Naval Ship­yard.

He was for­merly a mem­ber of Dun­dalk United Methodist Church and more re­cently at­tended Springs Men­non­ite Church, Springs, PA.

Ge­orge is sur­vived by his son, Ge­orge T. of Es­sex, MD; daugh­ters: Martha M. Doo­ley [Kath­leen Mur­ray] of New Mar­ket, VA, and Car­olyn D. Tice [Enos] of Sal­is­bur y, PA; grand­chil­dren: Naomi Tice and Isaac Tice. He was also pre­de­ceased by his sib­lings: Arthur, Ella, Wal­ter and Philip. He will be for­ever re­mem­bered by his fam­ily, in­clud­ing nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

Con­tin­u­ing his life-long spirit of gen­eros­ity, Ge­orge do­nated his body to sci­ence.
