Nearby, you are allowed to go to Great Falls, Manassas and Antietam battlefield parks and Fort McHenry. Or, you might want to take a trip to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia or to Harpers Ferry in West Virginia. This is a good way to celebrate National Park Week.

Take me out to the ballpark
The Bowie Baysox baseball team is a nearby site for enjoyment, supporting a team, and just being present as these players show what they can do on the field. There are opportunities for everyone to participate when people are selected from the stands to come down and show just what they can do. Special participation is for children when they have them compete with one another in several events. Some race, some throw the baseball, some try to catch the ball. They have lots of fun and the audience enjoys seeing these children enjoy a day away from school as they have a day at the ballpark. I was at the game on April 13 for the Baseball in Education/STEM Day which started at 11:05 a.m. with the stadium full of students. And it was just wonderful to see both boys and girls running from their seats climbing over the seats with gloves on their hand trying to get the foul ball that had come into the stands. And they were enjoying their snacks and drinks as they made noises to support the home team. And, some even wore T-shirts, hats and gloves for their team. The Baysox lost as the score was Erie, 4, and Baysox, 3. There are games that are played during the day, at evening time as well as on Sundays. And, there is plenty of free parking.
April 22 is Earth Day and April 29 is Arbor Day. Did you know that planting a tree will help fight global warming as trees “take the carbon dioxide from the air and reduce the need for heating and air-conditioning (both sources of carbon monoxide).” Trees in your yard can increase the value of your home by 15 percent or more. And, birds just love trees. It is so wonderful just to hear the sweet sounds they make.
