Prince Ge­orge’s County Pub­lic Schools (PGCPS) will host Un­der­stand­ing the FY2017 Ed­u­ca­tional Fa­cil­i­ties Master Plan (EFMP) com­mu­nity in­for­ma­tional meet­ing 6:30 p.m. May 3 at Oxon Hill High School, Me­dia Cen­ter, 6701 Leyte Drive. The FY2017 EFMP is used to de­velop the an­nual and sixyear Cap­i­tal Im­prove­ment Plans (CIP). PGCPS will re­view the school-by-school sched­ule for ren­o­vat­ing and re­plac­ing more than 133 schools; con­struct­ing new schools; re­or­ga­niz­ing sixth grade to mid­dle schools; bound­ary changes; and plan­ning stud­ies to con­sider con­sol­i­da­tions and other pro­grams. 31st An­nual Fallen He­roes Day cer­e­mony will take place 1 p.m. May 6 at Du­laney Val- ley Me­mo­rial Gar­dens, 200 East Pado­nia Road, Ti­mo­nium. The event hon­ors those whose deaths have been de­clared “line of duty” dur­ing the past year and is the only statewide cer­e­mony in the na­tion that brings to­gether all seg­ments of the pub­lic safety com­mu­nity. Law en­force­ment of­fi­cers and fire­fight­ers, dig­ni­taries and mem­bers of the com­mu­nity, fam­ily, and friends will gather to honor and re­mem­ber those who died in the line of duty. Po­lice and cor­rec­tional of­fi­cers, fire­fight­ers, and emer­gency med­i­cal and res­cue per­son­nel who risk their lives ev­ery day to pro­tect the cit­i­zens of Mary­land will be saluted.
