Group talks about faith, mental health
Raising awareness about mental health while promoting conversation on the power of faith, Gabriel’s Lyric Therapeutic Services, in conjunction with the Partnership for Renewal in South and Central Maryland and the New Creation Community Improvement Corporation, hosted its first annual faith and mental health conference Sept. 9 at Union Bethel AME Church in Brandywine.
The event — facilitated by the Rev. John C. Welch, dean of students and vice president for student services and community engagement at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary — featured four break out sessions and two different panels on educating clergy and lay leaders, as well as mental health challenges affecting youth and the elderly.
