52-year-old dies after five-carcollision Monday
One woman has died and several others were injured Monday after a multi-vehicle collision shut down all lanes southbound on Route 5 (Branch Avenue) in Clinton for nearly six hours.
Around 12:31 p.m., Maryland State Police crash team units responded to a call for a collision, involving five vehicles, on southbound Route 5. A preliminary investigation revealed four vehicles were traveling on Branch Avenue in one lane. Traffic, however, was stop and go at the time due to an earlier collision. The driver of one vehicle failed to slow down and struck the rear of another vehicle, according to a news release from MSP’s Forestville Barrack.
The driver of the second vehicle then struck another vehicle, who subsequently struck a fourth vehicle in a chain
