Baker, business leaders discuss exploratory mission trip to Cuba
Say they see many opportunities for trade, growth with nation
Providing business delegates an opportunity to learn more about international growth and development opportunities in hopes of laying the groundwork for future business collaborations, Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker (D) spoke about the county’s first-ever business trip to Cuba last month.
The goal of the historic trip, which took place from Nov. 15 through Nov. 20, was to position local companies for current and future business opportunities that can be developed if the U.S. Congress lifts the longstanding embargo against Cuba.
About 43 business delegates from around the region participated in the exploratory mission, which focused on creating an “Artists Exchange” program between Prince George’s County and Cuban artists, as well as developing education-related programs between the state and Cuban-based educational institutions.
