The Southern Maryland Bulldogs are looking for travel baseball players from 7-U to 19-U and tryouts will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at Hallowing Point Park in Prince Frederick. St. Mary’s College prospect clinics
St. Mary’s College of Maryland will hold two prospect clinics during the weekend of Oct. 21 and 22 for baseball and women’s lacrosse.
The 2017 fall baseball prospect camp will be held Oct. 21.
The cost is $125, with each participant receiving defensive position instruction, a pro-style workout, a campus tour and a meeting with the admissions staff. It also includes lunch as well as the opportunity to take batting practice and scrimmage at the Hawk’s Nest, the baseball team’s home field.

Southern Maryland Roller Derby will hold Derby 101 at the Waldorf Skate Center starting Oct. 30 and continue for three consecutive weeks on Mondays and Thursdays.
Derby 101 covers basic skating skills for adults 18 and over such as starting, stopping, falling and skating backwards. No previous experience is required.

Youth basketball registration
St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks will hold 2017 youth basketball registration from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1 or until filled.
Registration is available online, mail-in or in-person at Recreation and Parks’ main office in Leonardtown.
A first and second grade coed instructional league will teach the fundamentals of basketball. The cost is $50.
A third and fourth grade coed development league will teach team play and basics of playing basketball. The cost is $80.
A fifth to eighth grade boys and girls recreation league will teach sportsmanship and how to be part of a team. The cost is $80.
A ninth and 10th grade coed league is also available. The cost is $80. Team selection will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Margaret Brent Middle School in Helen. Participants must register before Dec. 1.

Youth indoor soccer registration
St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks will hold 2017 youth indoor soccer registration for children 4 to 18 from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1 or until filled.

Children 4 to 18 will get the opportunity to learn the beginning basics of soccer.
The cost is $55 for individuals, $500 per team without a shirt and $550 per team with shirt. Any special requests must be registered in person.

Southern Maryland Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for the upcoming 2017-18 USA Volleyball Chesapeake Region Volleyball season at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf on Nov. 12.
12-U, 13-U, 14-U tryouts will occur from 8 to 10 a.m. (7:30 a.m. check-in), 15-U and 16-U tryouts will occur from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (10:30 a.m. check-in) and 17-U and 18-U tryouts will occur from 3 to 5 p.m. (2:30 p.m. check-in).

Inaugural Delmarva Soccer Cup
Team registrations are now being accepted for Central Maryland Soccer Association’s Inaugural Delmarva Soccer Cup scheduled for Nov. 25 and 26.
The Cup is a sanctioned U.S. Soccer youth event, open to all affiliated youth teams in the Mid-Atlantic region. Separate male and female A, B and C competition will be offered in the single age groupings of U-8 through U-15; and the dual age brackets of 15-16 and 17-18.
The event features a round-robin competition format, with all teams being guaranteed a minimum of three games. The first- and second-place teams in each age grouping bracket receive team and individual awards.

Military registration discount program
Team Fire Elite Youth Basketball has partnered with Navy Child and Youth Programs to launch the Military Registration Discount Program for the upcoming season in support of military families.
The program is for children 5 to 18 of active-duty military, Department of Defense civilians and contractors, reservists on active duty or inactive duty while training, and children of military retirees.
