Bull­dogs base­ball tryouts

The South­ern Mary­land Bull­dogs are look­ing for travel base­ball play­ers from 7-U to 19-U and tryouts will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at Hal­low­ing Point Park in Prince Fred­er­ick. St. Mary’s Col­lege prospect clin­ics

St. Mary’s Col­lege of Mary­land will hold two prospect clin­ics dur­ing the week­end of Oct. 21 and 22 for base­ball and women’s lacrosse.

The 2017 fall base­ball prospect camp will be held Oct. 21.

The cost is $125, with each par­tic­i­pant re­ceiv­ing de­fen­sive po­si­tion in­struc­tion, a pro-style work­out, a cam­pus tour and a meet­ing with the ad­mis­sions staff. It also in­cludes lunch as well as the op­por­tu­nity to take bat­ting prac­tice and scrim­mage at the Hawk’s Nest, the base­ball team’s home field.

Derby 101

South­ern Mary­land Roller Derby will hold Derby 101 at the Wal­dorf Skate Cen­ter start­ing Oct. 30 and con­tinue for three con­sec­u­tive weeks on Mon­days and Thurs­days.

Derby 101 cov­ers ba­sic skat­ing skills for adults 18 and over such as start­ing, stop­ping, fall­ing and skat­ing back­wards. No pre­vi­ous ex­pe­ri­ence is re­quired.

Youth bas­ket­ball reg­is­tra­tion

St. Mary’s County Recre­ation and Parks will hold 2017 youth bas­ket­ball reg­is­tra­tion from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1 or un­til filled.

Reg­is­tra­tion is avail­able on­line, mail-in or in-per­son at Recre­ation and Parks’ main of­fice in Leonard­town.

A first and sec­ond grade coed in­struc­tional league will teach the fun­da­men­tals of bas­ket­ball. The cost is $50.

A third and fourth grade coed de­vel­op­ment league will teach team play and ba­sics of play­ing bas­ket­ball. The cost is $80.

A fifth to eighth grade boys and girls recre­ation league will teach sports­man­ship and how to be part of a team. The cost is $80.

A ninth and 10th grade coed league is also avail­able. The cost is $80. Team se­lec­tion will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Mar­garet Brent Mid­dle School in He­len. Par­tic­i­pants must reg­is­ter be­fore Dec. 1.

Youth in­door soc­cer reg­is­tra­tion

St. Mary’s County Recre­ation and Parks will hold 2017 youth in­door soc­cer reg­is­tra­tion for chil­dren 4 to 18 from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1 or un­til filled.

Reg­is­tra­tion is avail­able on­line, mail-in or in-per­son at the Recre­ation and Parks’ main of­fice in Leonard­town.

Chil­dren 4 to 18 will get the op­por­tu­nity to learn the be­gin­ning ba­sics of soc­cer.

The cost is $55 for in­di­vid­u­als, $500 per team with­out a shirt and $550 per team with shirt. Any spe­cial re­quests must be regis­tered in per­son.

Vol­ley­ball tryouts

South­ern Mary­land Vol­ley­ball Club will hold tryouts for the up­com­ing 2017-18 USA Vol­ley­ball Ch­e­sa­peake Re­gion Vol­ley­ball sea­son at the Cap­i­tal Club­house in Wal­dorf on Nov. 12.

12-U, 13-U, 14-U tryouts will oc­cur from 8 to 10 a.m. (7:30 a.m. check-in), 15-U and 16-U tryouts will oc­cur from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (10:30 a.m. check-in) and 17-U and 18-U tryouts will oc­cur from 3 to 5 p.m. (2:30 p.m. check-in).

In­au­gu­ral Del­marva Soc­cer Cup

Team regis­tra­tions are now be­ing ac­cepted for Cen­tral Mary­land Soc­cer As­so­ci­a­tion’s In­au­gu­ral Del­marva Soc­cer Cup sched­uled for Nov. 25 and 26.

The Cup is a sanc­tioned U.S. Soc­cer youth event, open to all af­fil­i­ated youth teams in the Mid-At­lantic re­gion. Sep­a­rate male and fe­male A, B and C com­pe­ti­tion will be of­fered in the sin­gle age group­ings of U-8 through U-15; and the dual age brack­ets of 15-16 and 17-18.

The event fea­tures a round-robin com­pe­ti­tion for­mat, with all teams be­ing guar­an­teed a min­i­mum of three games. The first- and sec­ond-place teams in each age group­ing bracket re­ceive team and in­di­vid­ual awards.

Mil­i­tary reg­is­tra­tion dis­count pro­gram

Team Fire Elite Youth Bas­ket­ball has part­nered with Navy Child and Youth Pro­grams to launch the Mil­i­tary Reg­is­tra­tion Dis­count Pro­gram for the up­com­ing sea­son in sup­port of mil­i­tary fam­i­lies.

The pro­gram is for chil­dren 5 to 18 of ac­tive-duty mil­i­tary, Depart­ment of De­fense civil­ians and con­trac­tors, re­servists on ac­tive duty or in­ac­tive duty while train­ing, and chil­dren of mil­i­tary re­tirees.
