United to honor him

For the first time since Mr. Trump was elected, the entire country seemed to unite to pay honor, dignity and respect to a fellow American on Sept. 1.

I felt obligated to post my American flag every day during the mourning period at half-staff in respect to Sen. John McCain’s passing. For the first time in a long time, both Republicans and Democrats seemed united in recognizing that a person of Sen. McCain’s caliber had earned honor, dignity and respect for serving as a true American.

Insults are not appropriate. I can only hope the current widespread attitude will continue for some time and the insults, anger and slanderous comments will disappear for the rest of Mr. Trump’s tenure. I am a registered Democrat.
