I’d like this Democrat to represent me
I am a Republican. I used to be proud to make this statement. The past four years, however, have left me feeling frustrated and ashamed. The party I once claimed as my own has become oblivious to its constituents.
My delegate, Del. Deb Rey (R-St. Mary’s), claims she is for veterans, yet her voting record proves her wrong. She was the only Republican delegate who voted against numerous bills to assist veterans and protect their rights. My husband is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and he proudly stands with his fellow veterans.
Deb Rey has voted against prohibiting individuals from carrying firearms on public institutions of higher education, she’s against collective bargaining, and she voted against improvement and accountability programs for public schools. Rey voted against employers providing paid sick leave to certain employees, against limiting greenhouse gas emissions, against parental leave for state employees, against preventing wage discrimination on basis of gender identity and on and on and on.
It is time for a change. St. Mary’s County needs someone to represent the wishes of our community and to develop practical solutions for our problems. We need to move toward the future for our children, our grandchildren and ourselves. Join me and vote for Brian Crosby. To learn more, visit www.bc4md.com.
