Dixie Lee Simp­son Wad­dle was born July 5, 1937 in Farm­ersville, Cal­i­for­nia at her Grand­mother's home. Her par­ents were Ted E. Simp­son and Dorothy Lea Simp­son Wright. Dixie at­tended Farm­ersville El­e­men­tary, Ex­eter Union High school (class of 1955), Col­lege of the Se­quoias in Visalia (class of 1957), and Fresno State (class of 1959), with a BA and El­e­men­tary Teach­ing Cre­den­tial. She later re­ceived the Un­ruh Read­ing Spe­cial­ist Cer­ti­fi­ca­tion.

Dixie met Carl D. Wad­dle in 1953 when she was 16 and he was 14. Carl en­listed in the Navy and Dixie went on to col­lege but they cor­re­sponded through­out his en­list­ment and her col­lege; they mar­ried af­ter his com­ple­tion of mil­i­tary ser­vice. They have been mar­ried for 58 years. Af­ter grad­u­a­tion Dixie taught for three years in Ex­eter, three years in San Jose while Carl fin­ished his Mas­ter's De­gree, and 27 years at Eastin-Ar­cola school in Madera County.

Dixie loved her "chil­dren" and was al­ways con­vinced of their abil­ity to suc­ceed. Dixie and Carl are com­mu­ni­cants at St. Ge­orge Greek Or­tho­dox Church in Fresno. Dixie looked for­ward to re­join­ing her fa­ther, mother, her sis­ter Terry Jones, and her brother Ted. Jr. Dixie leaves be­hind her beloved hus­band Carl whom she loved, to cher­ish her mem­ory and to an­tic­i­pate, by God's Grace, their joy­ful re­union and also nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews and ex­tended fam­ily and friends.
