Ray­mond “Dede” Aiu Sr. passed away on Nov. 6, 2017, in Wailua, Kauai, at the age of 84.

He is sur­vived by wife Ver­lie Anne (Harris) Aiu, chil­dren Eu­gene “Kappy” (Rinda) Aiu, Wil­liam (Dus­tine) Aiu, Ver­lie Ka‘iu­lani (Norman) Ah Hee, Vir­ginia Leile­hua Aiu Taber, Deanna Kawelo (Rus­sell) Kack­ley, Ray­mond Aiu Jr., Rosary “Chachi” Lind­sey and Raynette Maile­lauli‘ili‘i Domingo, sib­lings Ce­cilia Wood of Honolulu, Ernest Aiu of Mon­terey Park, Calif., Alma Cirino of Aina Haina, Oahu, 29 grand­chil­dren, 12 great-grand­chil­dren, and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

He was born on March 8, 1933, in Honolulu, to Eu­gene and Alice (Apana) Aiu.

His ser­vices are sched­uled for Jan. 5, 2018, with visi­ta­tion and wake at Borth­wick Kauai Mor­tu­ary in Koloa from 7 to 9 p.m. His Mass and burial will fol­low on Jan. 6, 2018, at St. Cather­ine Catholic Church in Ka­paa, at 9 a.m. A pa‘ina will fol­low at Coyle Hall on the St. Cather­ine cam­pus. All are wel­come to at­tend and cel­e­brate.
