Rentschler 2nd in golf tour­ney

Girls Golf

Ham­burg’s Aly Rentschler fin­ished sec­ond in the Berks County Girls In­di­vid­ual Golf Championships on Sept. 25 at Wil­low Hol­low after shoot­ing an 82 and edg­ing Wy­omiss­ing’s Kristy Bell in a play­off.

Rentschler, a ju­nior, was bested only by three- time cham­pion Olivia Raihl of Con­rad Weiser, who shot an 80. Team­mate and Ham­burg se­nior Grace Kutz placed 16th after shoot­ing a 108 while fresh­man Es­ther Met­calf placed 24th with a 139.

Boys Golf

Ex­eter ju­nior Alex Seelig won the BCIAA boys’ golf tour­na­ment cham­pi­onship on Sept. 27 at Black­wood Golf Course with an even- par 105 over the 27- hole event, best­ing runner- up Chase Miller of Tulpe­hocken by two strokes.

Seelig shot a 1- un­der 69 in the morn­ing ses­sion, fol­low­ing by a 1- over 36 in the af­ter­noon on the way to the ti­tle.

Other medal­ists in­cluded Berks Catholic’s Nick Fio­ra­vante ( third), fol­lowed by Oley Val­ley’s Con­ner Goll­witzer, Muh­len­berg’s Tyler Kipp and Wil­son’s Dy­lan Audi in fourth through sixth.

Seelig fin­ished sec­ond in 2016, be­hind only Wy­omiss­ing’ Nate Menon. He be­came Ex­eter’s first boys cham­pi­ons since Berks great Chip Lutz’s sec­ond ti­tle in 1972.

The Gov. Mif­flin boys squad won the team cham­pi­onship, nar­rowly edg­ing Berks Catholic. The Mus­tangs won their first team ti­tle since 2002.

Gov. Mif­flin and Berks Catholic shot match­ing five- player scores of 414 but the Mus­tangs held the tiebreaker with their sixth golfer shoot­ing a bet­ter score.

HAM­BURG 7, TULPE­HOCKEN 0 » The Hawks moved to 6- 1 in league, 12- 1 over­all on the year with their sweep of Tulpe­hocken on Septem­ber 25th. Al­li­son Bashore and Bre­anna Ul­rich led the way for Ham­burg win­ning their sin­gles sets with ease.

HAM­BURG 3, WIL­SON 2 » The Hawks were able to pull out a close win over Wil­son on Septem­ber 28th to move their over­all record to 13- 1. Bre­anna Ul­rich won her matchup at third sin­gles while the fresh­man duo of Ha­ley Grav­ish and Sarah Kramer clinched the win with their vic­tory at sec­ond dou­bles.

Boys soc­cer


Bausher’s hat trick led the Hawks to a win over Con­rad Weiser on Septem­ber 26th. Bryce Berger had a goal to round out the scor­ing, while goalie, Trevor Fe­g­ley had two saves in the shutout.
