Con­rad, Ha­lye qual­ify for state cham­pi­onships in Class 2A

The Dis­trict 3 Cross Coun­try Cham­pi­onships were held on Oct. 28 at Big Spring High School.

Class 2A

Ham­burg se­nior Wy­att Con­rad placed 11th in 17: 00 to qual­ify for next week’s PIAA Cham­pi­onships. He will be joined in Her­shey by ju­nior team­mate Levi Ha­lye, who fin­ished in 21st ( 17: 09).

Schuylkill Val­ley se­nior Ben Reisen­weaver placed eighth ( 16: 49) while York Sub­ur­ban’s Bryce Ohl won the race in 16: 14, ahead of Wy­omiss­ing’s Joe Cullen in se­cond ( 16: 37).

Oley Val­ley se­nior Re­becca Sny­der placed fourth in 19: 14 while North­ern York stand­out Mar­lee Star­liper ran away with the race, fin­ish­ing in 17: 25, 55 sec­onds ahead of the run­ner- up.

Ham­burg fresh­man Brea Bor­rell qual­i­fied for states by fin­ish­ing 26th ( 21: 18).

Class 3A

Gov. Mif­flin ju­nior An­drea Miller placed fourth in the 3A girls’ race in 19: 08 while lead­ing the Mus­tangs to a sixth- place team fin­ish. Miller was joined in the top 50 by se­nior Jessie Tay­lor ( 12th, 19: 32) and se­nior Kayla Clark ( 33rd, 20: 09).

Daniel Boone ( 11th) was led by sopho­mores Vi­vian Kase ( 47th, 20: 37) and Car­lina Davis ( 77th, 21: 14).

Ex­eter ( 14th) was led by sopho­mores Kather­ine Ker­ch­ner ( 45th, 20: 32) and Is­abella Karstien ( 57th, 20: 44).

Twin Val­ley placed se­cond in the boys 3A team race, the Raiders’ 152 points trail­ing only cham­pion Hemp­field ( 110).

Twin Val­ley got top 25 fin­ishes from se­nior Chase Knorr ( 14th, 16: 36) and se­nior Gar­rett Knorr ( 21st, 16: 42) and ju­nior Dy­lan Servis ( 25th, 16: 45).

Daniel Boone, which placed 18th as a team, was led by sopho­more Alex Pin­gi­tore ( 18th, 16: 37) and se­nior Zach Mur­ray ( 30th, 16: 51).

Gov. Mif­flin, 21st as a team, had ju­nior Alexan­der Er­mold place 20th ( 16: 42) fol­lowed by se­nior Elias Brower ( 69th, 17: 29).

Me­chan­ics­burg se­nior Mor­gan Cupp won the race in 16: 04. Wil­son’s Jake Underwood placed sev­enth ( 16: 24).

Class 1A

The Kutz­town boys won the Class 1A team ti­tle with fresh­man Mitchell Brett and ju­nior Michael Hill se­cur­ing top 10 fin­ishes. Brett placed sev­enth in 17: 53 and Hill eighth in 18: 11. Also scor­ing for the Cougars’ 59 team to­tal was sopho­more Derek Hanna ( 12th, 18: 28), se­nior Matt Angstadt ( 15th, 18: 35) and se­nior Sam Arnold ( 17th, 18: 40).

The Kutz­town girls placed a close third be­hind Camp Hill and York Catholic. Camp Hill came in with 65, York Catholic 67, in­clud­ing race win­ner Kate­lyn Macdougall ( 20: 09), while the Cougars scored 94.

Kutz­town scor­ing came from fresh­man Erika Mo­ri­ar­ity ( 7th, 20: 49), se­nior Robyn Hoch ( 10th, 21: 09), se­nior Maria Mar­marou ( 12th, 21: 28), se­nior Rachael McCoach ( 18th, 22: 04) and se­nior Madi­son Sheetz ( 27th, 23: 24).
