Mrs. Harvey ( Esther) Yoder, of Hamburg R1, was honored on her retirement from Berknit Corp., Hamburg, last Friday, after 42 years of employment. Mrs. Martha Etchberger presented a Savings Bond to Mrs. Yoder from all her co- workers in the underwear department. William A. Burkey gave a savings bond to the retiring worker on behalf of the Berknit Corp. Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Second Class Richard L. Mengle, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester J. Mengle of Port Clinton, PA, is serving aboard the U. S. Seventh Fleet attack carrier USS Kitty Hawk, off the coast of Vietnam. Terry Lindenmuth, 129- pound Hamburg Area High School wrestler, won a championship trophy in the Ashland Tournament in the North Schuylkill High School, Ashland, last Saturday. Thomas F. Confer, president of the Hamburg Savings & Trust Co., presented a $ 25.00 U. S. Savings bond to Mr. and Mrs. Earl T. Merkel, of Hamburg R2, for being the 10,000.00th customer to use their TV Auto Bank, last Thursday, less than a year after the new facility at Fourth and Pine Streets, Hamburg, was opened to the public. Special Venison Roast, serving from 5 to 11 p. m. at the West Hamburg Hotel, on Jan. 6. “Hawaii” starring Julie Andrews will be featured at the Hamburg Strand this weekend. Adults--$ 1, Students-- 85 cents, and Kids— 50 cents.
