Mary A. Ye­fchak, 92, of Free­land passed away Sun­day in Le­high Val­ley Hos­pi­tal-Ha­zle­ton fol­low­ing a short ill­ness.

Born in Free­land on Feb. 4, 1924, she was the daugh­ter of the late John and Anna (Baron) Ye­fchak and had spent the past 28 years in Free­land af­ter mov­ing from Vi­enna, Va.

Mary re­tired as a con­fi­den­tial sec­re­tary to the CIA and was a mem­ber of St. John’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Free­land, be­fore its clos­ing.

Pre­ced­ing her in death, in ad­di­tion to her par­ents, were her broth­ers, John, Ge­orge,

Joseph, Thomas and Michael Ye­fchak, and sis­ters, Irene Ye­fchak, Ann Keogh, Dolores Wil­son and Frances Ye­fchak.

Sur­viv­ing are two sis­tersin-law, Ar­lene Ye­fchak, Free­land; and Lot­tie Ye­fchak, New Jer­sey; and a broth­erin-law, Don­ald Wil­son, Tuc­son, Ariz. Also sur­viv­ing are many nieces and neph­ews.

Me­mo­rial and grave­side ser­vices for Mary will take place at a date and time to be an­nounced later.

Har­man Fu­neral Homes and Cre­ma­tory Inc. (East), 669 W. But­ler Drive, Drums, is as­sist­ing with the ar­range­ments.
