The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Agency awarded a $1,024,770 grant to Rural Health Corp. of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre.

The funds will support community health centers that serve medically underserved populations, said U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-17, Moosic, who announced the grant through a news release Thursday.

“This funding will continue to provide families and individuals with the preventive care and treatment they need to live healthy lives,” Cartwright said. “Community health centers remain a crucial part of our system to provide everyone with access to affordable, quality care.”

Health Services Grants are awarded on a competitive basis to applicants that have demonstrated quality care in their communities and are overseen by HHS’ Health Resources and Services Administration.
