Stephen Paranac, 90, of Prov­i­dence Place, Drums, for­merly of Oak­dale, died Wed­nes­day in Le­high Val­ley Hospi­talHa­zle­ton. He was born in Oak­dale son of the late John & Su­san (Bartko) Paranac. He was a mem­ber of St. John’s Byzan­tine Catholic Church, where he was ac­tive with the pierogi work­ers of the parish. A vet­eran of the U.S. Army, he served dur­ing World War II in the Asi­at­icPa­cific Theater of War with the 391st En­gi­neer­ing De­pot Com­pany, at­tain­ing the rank of tech­ni­cian fourth grade. Prior to re­tir­ing, he was em­ployed by General Foam.

He was the last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of his im­me­di­ate fam­ily and was pre­ceded in death by broth­ers and sis­ters, Michael, John, Joseph, Ge­orge, Mary Paranac, He­len Bick­ing, Su­san Koehler, Ann We­ber, Mar­garet We­ber and El­iz­a­beth Sul­li­van.

He is sur­vived by nieces, neph­ews and cousins.

The fu­neral will be held Mon­day at 10 a.m. from Frank J. Bonin Fu­neral Home Inc., 542 N. Wy­oming St., Ha­zle­ton.

Divine Li­turgy with Of­fice of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s B.C. Church, Ha­zle­ton.

In­ter­ment will be held in St. Mary’s B.C. Ceme­tery.

Friends and rel­a­tives may call Mon­day from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the fu­neral.
