Ha­zle Town­ship woman earns Ph.D. f rom Alver­nia

Betty-Jo (Bow­ers) Legutko re­ceived her doc­tor of phi­los­o­phy de­gree with a con­cen­tra­tion in cor­po­rate lead­er­ship from Alver­nia Uni­ver­sity at its win­ter com­mence­ment cer­e­mony on Dec. 10.

Her dis­ser­ta­tion re­search, “An Ex­plo­ration of the Emer­gent Lead­er­ship Styles of For­tune 500 Ex­ec­u­tives as Com­mu­ni­cated in An­nual Re­port Let­ters to their Share­hold­ers,” was also suc­cess­fully de­fended and ap­proved by her com­mit­tee on Oct. 20.

She also earned a master of busi­ness ad­min­is­tra­tion and bach­e­lor of science in en­vi­ron­men­tal en­gi­neer­ing from Penn State Uni­ver­sity, and post-bac­calau­re­ate cer­tifi­cate in med­i­cal stud­ies from Drexel Uni­ver­sity.

She re­sides in Ha­zle Town­ship with her hus­band, Rob, and daugh­ter, Grace, and is also mother to son, Zachary, who is de­ceased. She is the daugh­ter of An­thony Bow­ers, Ma­hanoy City, and Betty Alsvan, Drums.
