‘Shared Memories’ exhibit will open Sunday in Sugarloaf Twp.
“Shared Memories,” an exhibition of photographs and paintings from the April 2017 MMI trip to Italy will be presented today through Oct. 1 at Alice Laputka’s studio in Sugarloaf Twp.
The students, teachers and chaperones who embarked on this cultural and education tour of Tuscany and nearby areas have been invited to participate in the exhibition.
The beautiful images in this show feature the charming cities, towns and villages of the region.
Think of spring in Milan, Venice, Ravenna, Bologna, Florence, Lucca, Pisa, the villages of Cinque Terre and Lake Como. What could be more beautiful, more magical?
An opening reception will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the studio at 90 W. County Road.
The exhibit will also be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Fridays through Sundays throughout the duration of the show. Other viewing times are available by appointment by calling 570-956-3336.
Along with the student and adult photographs, professional photographer Peigi Durako will have several photographs printed on glass featured on the west wall of the studio and Alice Laputka will be showing a few pastel paintings created from her own photographs from the trip.
Students from MMI Preparatory School, Freeland, are noted for their academic excellence and their creative thinking skills.
The students represented in this show are displaying noteworthy photographs that are good enough be used in travel promotions.
“This show goes way beyond what I ever expected to see,” said Laputka, a former art teacher at MMI. “It showcases the artistic ability and creativity of amateurs and professionals alike and has been a fun show to put together.”
