‘Shared Mem­o­ries’ ex­hibit will open Sun­day in Su­gar­loaf Twp.

“Shared Mem­o­ries,” an ex­hi­bi­tion of pho­to­graphs and paint­ings from the April 2017 MMI trip to Italy will be pre­sented to­day through Oct. 1 at Alice La­putka’s stu­dio in Su­gar­loaf Twp.

The stu­dents, teach­ers and chap­er­ones who em­barked on this cul­tural and ed­u­ca­tion tour of Tus­cany and nearby ar­eas have been in­vited to par­tic­i­pate in the ex­hi­bi­tion.

The beau­ti­ful im­ages in this show fea­ture the charm­ing cities, towns and vil­lages of the re­gion.

Think of spring in Mi­lan, Venice, Ravenna, Bologna, Florence, Lucca, Pisa, the vil­lages of Cinque Terre and Lake Como. What could be more beau­ti­ful, more mag­i­cal?

An open­ing re­cep­tion will be held to­day from 2 to 4 p.m. at the stu­dio at 90 W. County Road.

The ex­hibit will also be open from 2 to 4 p.m. Fri­days through Sun­days through­out the du­ra­tion of the show. Other view­ing times are avail­able by ap­point­ment by call­ing 570-956-3336.

Along with the stu­dent and adult pho­to­graphs, pro­fes­sional pho­tog­ra­pher Peigi Du­rako will have sev­eral pho­to­graphs printed on glass fea­tured on the west wall of the stu­dio and Alice La­putka will be show­ing a few pas­tel paint­ings cre­ated from her own pho­to­graphs from the trip.

Stu­dents from MMI Prepara­tory School, Free­land, are noted for their aca­demic ex­cel­lence and their cre­ative think­ing skills.

The stu­dents rep­re­sented in this show are dis­play­ing note­wor­thy pho­to­graphs that are good enough be used in travel pro­mo­tions.

“This show goes way be­yond what I ever ex­pected to see,” said La­putka, a for­mer art teacher at MMI. “It show­cases the artis­tic abil­ity and cre­ativ­ity of am­a­teurs and pro­fes­sion­als alike and has been a fun show to put to­gether.”
