Ha­zle­ton man pleads no con­test to charges in Moutain Top rest room record­ings case

WILKES-BARRE — A Ha­zle­ton man ac­cused of se­cretly record­ing women and chil­dren through a ceil­ing in the rest room of a Moun­tain Top pizza shop pleaded no con­test Wed­nes­day to child pornog­ra­phy charges.

Juan B. Prieto, 43, pleaded no con­test to three felony counts of child pornog­ra­phy and saw 19 other counts against him dropped. Luzerne County Judge David W. Lu­pas ac­cepted the plea and set sen­tenc­ing for Jan. 9.

Pros­e­cu­tors al­leged Prieto, who worked at Luigi’s Pizza on South Moun­tain Boule­vard in Wright Twp., was caught in Fe­bru­ary af­ter a wo­man spot­ted him spy­ing on her in the rest room.

Prieto re­port­edly ran away, drop­ping a cell­phone that con­tained videos of women and girls un­der 13 us­ing the fa­cil­ity.

Prieto will be re­quired to reg­is­ter as a sex of­fender.
