Hazleton man pleads no contest to charges in Moutain Top rest room recordings case
WILKES-BARRE — A Hazleton man accused of secretly recording women and children through a ceiling in the rest room of a Mountain Top pizza shop pleaded no contest Wednesday to child pornography charges.
Juan B. Prieto, 43, pleaded no contest to three felony counts of child pornography and saw 19 other counts against him dropped. Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas accepted the plea and set sentencing for Jan. 9.
Prosecutors alleged Prieto, who worked at Luigi’s Pizza on South Mountain Boulevard in Wright Twp., was caught in February after a woman spotted him spying on her in the rest room.
Prieto reportedly ran away, dropping a cellphone that contained videos of women and girls under 13 using the facility.
Prieto will be required to register as a sex offender.
