Sweet tooth leads to charges
An August candy heist at a Tamaqua store resulted in two facing charges.
Jessica L. Wenrich, 27, Ashland, was charged with use or possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft by Tamaqua police while Brandyn T. Spece, 27, Pottsville, was cited for a summary count of retail theft. The charges were filed Sept. 25 and issued via summons.
Arrest papers state Wenrich had a needle and spoon in her wallet and several packs of candy and a bottle of soda in her purse when police stopped her outside Fegley’s Mini Mart, 30-32 Center St., Aug. 14 around 2:15 a.m. while investigating a theft from the business. She later admitted to stealing the items, along with two overthe-counter medications totaling $27.98.
Spece had one pack of candy in his pocket, police wrote.
