■ The Free­land YMCA will host its 12th an­nual 5K run/walk Nov. 4 through the streets of Free­land.

It is a mod­er­ate course with some hills. The race will start and end at the Free­land YMCA, 600 Front St., Free­land.

The 5K run/walk will start at 10 a.m. Pro­ceeds from this event will ben­e­fit youth ac­tiv­i­ties held at the Free­land YMCA.

Cost for pre-regis­tra­tion is $18 be­fore Oct .28. Make checks payable to the Free­land YMCA, c/o Run for the Chil­dren, P.O. Box 6, Free­land, PA 18224.

Regis­tra­tion the day of the event is $20.

Awards will be given to the over­all top male and fe­male fin­ish­ers. Also, the top three males and top three fe­males in each of the fol­low­ing age groups will re­ceive medals: 12 years and un­der, 13 to 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus.

The top three walk­ers (male or fe­male) will re­ceive medals.

In ad­di­tion to the 5K run/ walk, there will be a kids fun run through Free­land Pub­lic Park( ap­prox­i­mately 1/2 mile) for chil­dren 12 years and un­der.

The kids run will start promptly at 9 a.m ., just be­fore the 5K run/walk.

The en­try fee is $5 per runner. All par­tic­i­pants for the kids fun run will be en­tered into a ran­dom draw­ing for a grand prize gift card, plus all run­ners will re­ceive a medal.

This race is par t of the Greater Ha­zle­ton Area Fes­ti­val of Races.

Tricky trays, raf­fle tick­ets and much more will be avail­able.

Con­tain­ers will be pro­vided.

■ St. Michael’s Lanes ju­nior bowlers are re­minded that the Gertrude Hawk candy fundraiser pa­pers are due Satur­day.

Also, star ting Satur­day, the Schol­ars Lea gue will start at 11 a.m. and the Pros League will start at 1 p.m. for the re­main­der of the sea­son.

The Min­ers and Roll ’N Grow leagues will start at their re gu­lar time of 9:30 a.m.

■ The sec­ond an­nual Chelsea Michalesko Memo­rial Schol­ar­ship ben­e­fit will be held Oct. 21 from 1 to 6 p.m. at St. Michael’s Recre­ation Cen­ter .

he fol­low­ing ven­dors will par­tic­i­pate: Jam berry, LuLaRoe, 31, Scentsy, hand­made wreaths and new this year will be free child ID and med­i­cal ID cards spon­sored by Bal­ti­more Life Co.

There will also be home­made food avail­able and a bake sale as well as tricky trays.

Bowl­ing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. with prizes.
