■ The Freeland YMCA will host its 12th annual 5K run/walk Nov. 4 through the streets of Freeland.
It is a moderate course with some hills. The race will start and end at the Freeland YMCA, 600 Front St., Freeland.
The 5K run/walk will start at 10 a.m. Proceeds from this event will benefit youth activities held at the Freeland YMCA.
Cost for pre-registration is $18 before Oct .28. Make checks payable to the Freeland YMCA, c/o Run for the Children, P.O. Box 6, Freeland, PA 18224.
Registration the day of the event is $20.
Awards will be given to the overall top male and female finishers. Also, the top three males and top three females in each of the following age groups will receive medals: 12 years and under, 13 to 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus.
The top three walkers (male or female) will receive medals.
In addition to the 5K run/ walk, there will be a kids fun run through Freeland Public Park( approximately 1/2 mile) for children 12 years and under.
The kids run will start promptly at 9 a.m ., just before the 5K run/walk.
The entry fee is $5 per runner. All participants for the kids fun run will be entered into a random drawing for a grand prize gift card, plus all runners will receive a medal.
This race is par t of the Greater Hazleton Area Festival of Races.
Tricky trays, raffle tickets and much more will be available.

■ St. Michael’s Lanes junior bowlers are reminded that the Gertrude Hawk candy fundraiser papers are due Saturday.
Also, star ting Saturday, the Scholars Lea gue will start at 11 a.m. and the Pros League will start at 1 p.m. for the remainder of the season.
The Miners and Roll ’N Grow leagues will start at their re gular time of 9:30 a.m.
■ The second annual Chelsea Michalesko Memorial Scholarship benefit will be held Oct. 21 from 1 to 6 p.m. at St. Michael’s Recreation Center .
he following vendors will participate: Jam berry, LuLaRoe, 31, Scentsy, handmade wreaths and new this year will be free child ID and medical ID cards sponsored by Baltimore Life Co.
There will also be homemade food available and a bake sale as well as tricky trays.
Bowling will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. with prizes.
