Tickets for Joe Maddon’s HIP fundraiser on sale.
Joe Maddon and friends will be back home next month for an event aimed at raising money for his Hazleton Integration Project and its Hazleton One Community Center.
There’s no word on who his “friends” are yet, but at past holiday gatherings, the Hazleton native and Chicago Cubs manager has been accompanied by baseball legends such as Yogi Berra and Manny Ramirez, along with other ML B players, and celebrities like actor and diehard Cubs fan Bill Murray.
This time, on Dec. 15, Maddon will host “Around the Horn with Joe Maddon and Friends,” billed as an evening of “casino gaming” and fun with “celebrity stars,” in a release from the Hazleton Integration Project.
The event is set for the Valley Country Club at 6 p.m., with a three-hour open bar scheduled. There will be “elegant passed hors d’oeuvres, two carving stations, incomparable sports memorabilia, and a live and silent auction throughout the event,” and dress is semifor mal, according to the release.
Tickets are $150 each and available at Valley Country Club, Hazleton One Community Center, and The Shop2 in downtown Hazleton, or by calling HIP at 570-861-8081. The last day to buy tickets, which are limited, is Dec. 8.
Because it is a gaming fundraiser, no one under the age of 21 will be admitted, according to HIP.
