In­for­mant helps cops col­lar dealer

Sony Rivera, 25, was jailed on a felony drug charge af­ter Ha­zle­ton po­lice worked with a con­fi­den­tial in­for­mant and ar­ranged for a con­trolled drug buy near Se­cond and Al­ter streets on Sept. 27, court pa­pers state.

Po­lice said in court records that an in­for­mant pur­chased two bun­dles of pur­ported heroin from Rivera.

The ma­te­rial tested pos­i­tive for heroin and fen­tanyl and weighed about 0.6 grams, with pack­ag­ing, po­lice said.

Rivera, of Al­ter Street, faces a felony charge of man­u­fac­ture, de­liv­ery, or pos­ses­sion with in­tent to man­u­fac­ture or de­liver, court records state. He was jailed at Luzerne County Cor­rec­tional Fa­cil­ity af­ter he was un­able to post bail, po­lice said.
