Wanted: Res­i­dent of ‘good moral char­ac­ter’ for school board

Weatherly Area school di­rec­tors are ac­cept­ing ap­pli­ca­tions for an open seat on the school board.

Af­ter win­ning both a twoyear seat and a four-year seat in the gen­eral elec­tion, in­cum­bent Brian O’Don­nell opted for the longer of the terms.

As a re­sult, the two-year seat re­mains open. The dis- trict re­cently ad­ver­tised to fill it.

School of­fi­cials will ac­cept let­ters of in­ter­est through Dec. 5 at 4 p.m., ac­cord­ing to a le­gal no­tice pub­lished Wed­nes­day in the Stan­dard-Speaker.

In­ter­views will be­gin at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6, an hour be­fore the board holds its re­or­ga­ni­za­tion and cau­cus meet­ings.

Of­fi­cials seek ap­pli­cants of “good moral char­ac­ter” who re­side within Weatherly Area School District, the no­tice reads.

School board Pres­i­dent Gi­rard Fewins Sr. said he hopes the board can fill the va­cancy at the re­or­ga­ni­za­tion meet­ing.
