The following cases were handled in local magisterial district courts, according to court records:
■ Charges for driving under the influence and two summary violations filed against Iniverto Velazquez, 24, Hazleton, by state police at Hazleton, were dismissed by Magisterial District Judge Thomas Malloy Sr. on July 30. Velazquez was charged following a July 21 traffic stop in the area of West Broad and Church streets. Charges for possession of a controlled substance and possession of an offensive weapon filed against his passenger, Leo M. Hernandez, 24, Tamaqua, were also dismissed that day by Malloy.
■ Charges of simple assault, child endangerment, harassment and criminal mischief filed against Maria M. Taveraz, 25, West Hazleton, by Hazleton police after a May 18 incident at the rear of 575 N. James St., were withdrawn by officers Monday.
■ Stephanie Peguero, 26, of West Hazleton, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a count of simple assault filed against her by West Hazleton police after a July 25 stabbing on Winters Avenue between Wayne and Warren streets. Other charges for aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence were withdrawn by police. She was ordered to pay $172.25 by Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz, Pittston.
