Man ar­rested for as­sault­ing woman

A Lansford man was ar­rested af­ter po­lice say he as­saulted a woman Tues­day.

Matthew S. Crev­el­ing, 29, faces two counts sim­ple as­sault and one count ha­rass­ment. He was taken to jail af­ter fail­ing to im­me­di­ately post $3,000 bail set Tues­day by Mag­is­te­rial District Judge Casimir Kosci­olek, Lansford.

Ar­rest pa­pers state po­lice were called to a do­mes­tic as­sault at 510 E. Bertsch St. and found the vic­tim with vis­i­ble in­juries. She told po­lice Crev­el­ing as­saulted her af­ter she wouldn’t give him her med­i­ca­tion, court pa­pers state.

Crev­el­ing grabbed her by the hair and dragged her and threw her around a room, po­lice wrote. Then he de­stroyed her dresser and hit her in the leg with a piece of bro­ken wood from it and grabbed her by the head and squeezed, court pa­pers state.

Crev­el­ing didn’t deny there was an altercation but didn’t want to pro­vide a state­ment to po­lice.
