Man arrested for assaulting woman
A Lansford man was arrested after police say he assaulted a woman Tuesday.
Matthew S. Creveling, 29, faces two counts simple assault and one count harassment. He was taken to jail after failing to immediately post $3,000 bail set Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, Lansford.
Arrest papers state police were called to a domestic assault at 510 E. Bertsch St. and found the victim with visible injuries. She told police Creveling assaulted her after she wouldn’t give him her medication, court papers state.
Creveling grabbed her by the hair and dragged her and threw her around a room, police wrote. Then he destroyed her dresser and hit her in the leg with a piece of broken wood from it and grabbed her by the head and squeezed, court papers state.
Creveling didn’t deny there was an altercation but didn’t want to provide a statement to police.
