Embiid scores 39 points as 76ers beat Pistons
Joel Embiid scored 32 of his 39 points in a dominating first half and had 17 rebounds to lead the host Philadelphia 76ers to a 109-99 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
Embiid made 10 of 18 field goals and 18 of 23 free throws to help Philadelphia improve to 6-0 at home.
Blake Griffin had 38 points, 13 rebounds and six assists to lead Detroit, Suns: A person familiar with the negotiations said Tyson Chandler is getting his contract bought out by the Suns, and plans to sign with the Lakers once he clears waivers. Timberwolves: Jimmy Butler might play in both of the Timberwolves’ back-to-back games on Sunday in Portland and Monday against the Clippers. Or he may play in one. Or perhaps none.
According to Butler, whether he plays for the Wolves is dependent upon how his body feels, and the only one making the call on whether he plays is him. Butler made that much clear after Friday’s 116-99 loss to the Warriors when he held his first media session since sitting out Wednesday’s win over the Jazz with what coach Tom Thibodeau termed “general soreness.”
Rockets: James Harden returned to the starting lineup against the Bulls after missing three games because of a strained left hamstring.
Heat: Point guard Goran Dragic was out for the game at Atlanta due to pain in his right foot.
