Ore­gon women edge Syra­cuse in top-25 clash

Sab­rina Ionescu had 26 points and 10 re­bounds and Erin Bo­ley made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 51 sec­onds left, help­ing No. 3 Ore­gon hold off No. 18 Syra­cuse 75-73 on Satur­day at home.

Ionescu, a pre­sea­son All-amer­ica guard com­ing off her 11th ca­reer triple­dou­ble, hit back-to-back 3-point­ers to spark an

11-0 run af­ter the Orange had scored 10 straight points to take a 67-61 lead. Bo­ley’s 3 from the cor­ner put Ore­gon ahead to stay at 70-67.


Pep­per­dine: The game be­tween Cal State Northridge and Pep­per­dine was post­poned be­cause of wild­fires af­fect­ing the Mal­ibu cam­pus. A makeup date has not been set. The fires have killed two peo­ple and de­stroyed over 150 homes.

Buf­falo: CJ Mass­in­burg had 43 points and 14 re­bounds as vis­it­ing Buf­falo pulled off an­other big up­set against a power pro­gram, stun­ning No. 13 West Vir­ginia 99-94 in over­time. In March, the 13th-seeded Bulls blew out No. 4 seed Ari­zona 89-68 in the first round of the NCAA Tour­na­ment. Notre Dame: Arike Ogun­bowale scored 30 points in three quar­ters as topranked Notre Dame opened its na­tional ti­tle de­fense with a 103-58 home vic­tory over Har­vard. Ogun­bowale, who hit a pair of buzzer-beat­ers in the Women’s Fi­nal Four last spring, made 10 of 21 field goals and all nine free throws in 25 min­utes.
