Oregon women edge Syracuse in top-25 clash
Sabrina Ionescu had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Erin Boley made a go-ahead 3-pointer with 51 seconds left, helping No. 3 Oregon hold off No. 18 Syracuse 75-73 on Saturday at home.
Ionescu, a preseason All-america guard coming off her 11th career tripledouble, hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark an
11-0 run after the Orange had scored 10 straight points to take a 67-61 lead. Boley’s 3 from the corner put Oregon ahead to stay at 70-67.
Pepperdine: The game between Cal State Northridge and Pepperdine was postponed because of wildfires affecting the Malibu campus. A makeup date has not been set. The fires have killed two people and destroyed over 150 homes.
Friday’s Men’s Highlights
Buffalo: CJ Massinburg had 43 points and 14 rebounds as visiting Buffalo pulled off another big upset against a power program, stunning No. 13 West Virginia 99-94 in overtime. In March, the 13th-seeded Bulls blew out No. 4 seed Arizona 89-68 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Notre Dame: Arike Ogunbowale scored 30 points in three quarters as topranked Notre Dame opened its national title defense with a 103-58 home victory over Harvard. Ogunbowale, who hit a pair of buzzer-beaters in the Women’s Final Four last spring, made 10 of 21 field goals and all nine free throws in 25 minutes.
