Bears: Two-time All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack and top receiver Allen Robinson look as if they’re just about ready to return after missing Chicago’s past two games because of injuries. Both players practiced without limitations Thursday for the second consecutive day. The team hopes to have them back against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Jets: Sam Darnold will not start for the Jets on Sunday against the Bills, head coach Todd Bowles told reporters, but the rookie quarterback has not been ruled out altogether. Josh McCown will start for the Jets on Sunday. Darnold, who is dealing with a right foot strain, did not practice for the second consecutive day.
Raiders: Oakland defensive coordinator Paul Guenther denied there is any friction between him and coach Jon Gruden and said the two remain united in trying to improve a team that has been one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL this season. Cameras caught the two coaches getting into a heated exchange after a costly blown play in the Raiders’ 34-3 loss to San Francisco a week ago. Obit: Wally Triplett, the trailblazing running back who was one of the first African-Americans drafted by an NFL team, has died. He was 92.
