A23-year-old Jewish man was fatally stabbed by his neighbor late Sunday night, according to a Yeshiva World News report Monday. The victim, Omri Dahan, was stabbed in the chest at around 11:30 PM, while his older brother, 29-year-old Ayal Dahan, was stabbed in the arm. The older Dahan was reported by doctors to be in stable condition following his hospitalization after the attack. Omri Dahan succumbed to his wounds at Beth Israel Hospital at around 12:30 AM, according to NY Daily News.

Both YWN and NY Daily News cited reports that the attacker blocked the brothers’ driveway, refusing to move his car despite Ayal Dahan repeatedly honking his horn. An aggressive altercation ensued which culminated in the suspect fatally stabbing Omri Dahan with a knife, and attacking Ayal Dahan as well. Following the incident, the suspect fled in a gray Volkswagen Jetta, according to police.

“What happened was, the Jewish (man) came home, the Haitian guy's car was double-parked in front of his driveway,” a 28-year-old eyewitness told the NY Daily News Monday.

“The guy was beeping for 10 minutes straight and they were ignoring him,” the witness, Ricky Zawaki, said. “As soon as the guy came down to move the car, the Jewish kid got out of the car and started yelling at the man, saying, ‘Move your effing car.’ Zawaki said Ayal Dahan emerged from his home with a child gate, which he used to strike Jean-Paul in the head.

The deadly stabbing represents yet another tragedy for the Dahan family, who lost their father, Shlomo Dahan, and son, Harel Dahan, in 2009, when the father and son fell into a toxic well they were attempting to vacuum at Jamaica’s Regal Recycling Company.

The suspect behind the stabbing, 41-year-old Djems JeanPaul, was arrested by NYPD homicide detectives while attempting to flee to his native Haiti, according to a NY Daily News report. Jean-Paul, who has no prior arrests, is facing manslaughter charges, along with assault and illegal weapons possession.
