Hollywood, Hypocrisy & Harvey

The Jewish Voice - - EDITORIAL -

While the slime from the seemingly never ending Weinstein revelations ooze out to cover our print and news media we watch in horror as other equally viscous, foul smelling tales inundate us, leading to what amateur psychologists such as those in our old junior high classes might have labeled as, "The world going nutso!" We have had to deal with the Las Vegas shootings, the Kaepernick kneeling chronology, the North Korea threat, the drug overdose epidemic, the constant attacks on President Trump, which include the false claims of thousands of forthcoming deaths due to the revoking or dismantling of ObamaCare, the natural disasters in Puerto Rico, Texas, Florida and the wildfires in California all part of the hysteria over the theory of manmade global warming can make one shut off the TV, cancel newspaper subscriptions and just lock the front door to refuse to have anything to do with the outside world.

Let's focus on one of these to lessen the pain. We'll concentrate on Harvey Weinstein. Sadly, this creepy, crawling criminal is of Jewish descent. He named his Miramax corporation after his parents Miriam and Max. That's the last moral thing he did. After that it was all downhill with monstrous profits and power which he used to cover his maniacal crimes against women. He was and probably still is and will be a sexual predator whose hatred for women was evidenced by his physical attacks on them using his incredible wealth and entertainment industry status as the means to utilize women, many already stars in their own right as mere tools for his own purposes.

And his goal was not to exact sexual pleasures from these encounters. His actions were more to show his extreme control over them as virtual slaves and to prove as well, his virtual immunity from being prosecuted as a criminal pervert and as a ghoulish predator. He had the whole entertainment industry, the media and the politicians in the palm of his hand. He paid off the Manhattan District Attorney to lay off of him. Democrats, from those ensconced in the White House down, were eating out of his hand. He could do no wrong. The women glitteratti crawled over him at any and all awards ceremonies. And that included some of his own victims, as well.

When the NYT came out recently with the explosive charges of his vast crimes against women, many in the movie industry said, "We knew it all along!" "He did it to me!" "It was accepted as normal. You know, the casting-couch interview." But we ask merely, where were the Women's Libbers who were part and parcel of the sex acts themselves or merely lookers on? And why did it take 6 days for Hillary Clinton to chime in stating her horror at the "exposure" of these facts? Didn't her Secret Service shomrim not tell her of Weinstein's background when she was still in the WH and when she accepted tens of thousands of his stained dollars for her campaigns? Why the feigned horror-struck facial and verbal expressions of revulsion from those who well knew of his sexual exploitation of women? All we can say is that hypocrisy reigns among the high and mighty in the entertainment industry and in the hallowed halls where our politicians slink in to wish away the plights of their constituents. Perhaps in the future, we'll all follow the rule, "If you see something, say something!" Do that even if it hurts.
